Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
4:15 a.m. Friday, May 4, East Armstrong Road, west of North Old Road 15, Leesburg. Driver: Todd A. Sprague, 24, East McKenna Road, Warsaw. Sprague told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on Armstrong Road when a deer entered the roadway. He said he was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Damage up to $5,000.
3:18 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, East Market Street and North First Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Richard W. Gensch, 86, South Washington Street, Pierceton; Jonna L. Michel, 32, North CR 1000, No. 35, North Manchester. Gensch told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on Market Street and said he stopped at the intersection with First Street. He told police he looked both ways and then proceeded into the intersection where his vehicle collided with Michel’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
6:49 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, South CR 780W and West Shilling Road, Mentone. Driver: Jamie D. Wallace, 45, South CR 780W, Mentone. Wallace told police he was driving his vehicle when a deer ran into the path of his vehicle, causing a collision. Damage up to $2,500.
5:31 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, North SR 19 and West CR 500N, Etna Green. Driver: Chad Hedington, 25, West Quad Street, Bourbon. Hedington told police he was driving his truck and trailer northbound on SR 19 when the trailer jumped off the ball. Once the trailer was loose from the ball, the trailer started to fishtail, causing the truck to fishtail. The truck and trailer rolled over on their sides and left the east side of the roadway, striking a fence. Damage up to $25,000.
10:42 a.m. Monday, April 30, South SR 19, south of West CR 700S, Warsaw. Drivers: Chan O. Tucker, 52, South SR 19, Mentone; Robert P. Barefoot, 63, North CR 325 E., North Manchester. Tucker told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on SR 19 when he attempted to pass Barefoot’s vehicle, which was a pickup hauling a farm wagon. Tucker said that while he was passing, he noticed a left turn signal on Barefoot’s vehicle and tried to avoid a collision but was unsuccessful. Damage up to $10,000.
3:11 p.m. Thursday, April 26, North CR 350W and West CR 200N, Warsaw. Drivers: Joshua P. Burkholder-Geberin, 32, East Old Road 30, Warsaw; Don P. Holland, 57, North Bird View Drive, Warsaw. According to police, Burkholder-Geberin was driving his vehicle southbound on CR 350W and Holland was driving his vehicle on the same road northbound. Police said Burkholder-Geberin’s vehicle crossed the center line, side-swiping Holland’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Pierceton
Officers from the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accident:
5 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, South SR 13 and East CR 350S, Pierceton. Drivers: Mary A. Cox, 58, West Van Buren Street, Columbia CIty; Robbin C. Monceaux Lejeune, 25, River Run Trail, Fort Wayne. Vehicles driven by both Cox and Monceaux Lejeune were traveling southbound on SR 13 approaching CR 350S, according to police. Monceaux Lejeune told police she stopped in traffic to allow the vehicle in front of her to turn left and was struck from the rear by Cox’s vehicle. Cox told police she was looking away and did not see the vehicle in front of her stop. Damage up to $25,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
2:31 a.m. Friday, May 4, East Smith Street, east of South Wood Street, Warsaw. Driver: Jeffery K. Warner, 37, South SR 13, North Manchester. According to police, a witness was awakened by barking dogs and saw a vehicle traveling westbound on East Smith Street and upon further inspection saw that a utility pole had been severed. Police located Warner, who said he fell asleep, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and strike the pole. Warner told police he had no cell phone battery life so he planned to report the accident when he could get access to a phone. Damage up to $10,000.
4:46 p.m. Thursday, May 3, alley east of North West Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Stephanie M. Rabey, 35, North Franklin Street, Mentone; Jacob L. Foster, 20, East CR 350N, Warsaw. Rabey told police she was driving her vehicle westbound in an east-west alley between West Rutter Street and North Lake Street. She said she stopped at a stop sign in an alley intersection and did not see Foster’s vehicle, which did not have a stop sign. Both vehicles entered the intersection at the same time, causing the collision. Damage up to $2,500.
4:26 p.m. Thursday, May 3, North SR 15, north of West CR 350N, Warsaw. Drivers: Donna K. Daniel, 72, EMS T26 Lane, Leesburg; Dyllion M. Cole, West Hoffman Lake Road, Warsaw. Daniel told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on SR 15 and was approaching the intersection of CR 350N. She told police she had been talking on her cell phone and finished the call. She looked down to place the phone on her center console and when she looked up, the vehicle driven by Cole was stopped in front of her. She was unable to avoid the collision. Damage up to $10,000.
12:44 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, Parker Street Extended, north of Husky Trail, Warsaw. Drivers: Nancy F. Snider, 76, Trails End Court, Warsaw; Robert W. Franklin, 79, Cairo Way, Avon. Snider told police she was driving her vehicle south on Husky Trail and stopped at the intersection with Parker Street Extended. She pulled her vehicle into the intersection and Franklin told police he also entered the intersection in his vehicle, where the two vehicles collided. Damage up to $2,500.
