Lakeland Eagles Holding People Helping People Event
SYRACUSE — The seventh annual People Helping People event returns Friday, May 18, and Saturday, May 19, thanks to the Lakeland Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary 3760. The event will take place at 12889 N. Kern Road, Syracuse.
Kicking off the event Friday, May 18, is the silent auction from 5 to 9 p.m. A fish dinner also begins at 5 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m. Raffle drawings and 50/50 raffle and tip boards will be running throughout the evening. Wayne VanCuren will provide the entertainment from 7 to 11 p.m.
A highlight of the fundraiser, the fifth annual “Bullet” Bob Niles Memorial Golf Outing, will start Saturday morning, May 19, with registration at 7:45 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. South Shore Golf Club, 10601 N. SR 13, Syracuse, will host this year’s golf outing. The cost is $60 per golfer. Golfers are asked to sign up by Friday, May 4.
A sub sandwich lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will follow a morning of golf. Once again raffle drawings, a 50/50 raffle and tip boards will be going throughout the day and into the evening. Another silent auction will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. A tenderloin dinner will be available as well from 5 to 8 p.m. The evening’s entertainment will be provided by Denny Carroll from 7 to 11 p.m.
An additional golf cart raffle will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 19. A new 2017 gas custom golf cart or $3,500 cash will be sponsored by Elliott’s Custom Trailers and Carts, Warsaw, and raffled off. Tickets will be $10 each or three for $25. Winner need not be present to win.
This year all proceeds will go to help support Indiana Special Olympics, Boomerang Backpacks and Riley’s Trauma Center. This event has raised more than $81,000 in the past six years.
