Triton Sports Wrap: April 28
Boys Golf
Triton’s boys golf team won the Marshall County Meet championship with a 357 at Mystic Hills Saturday.
John Glenn finished second, and LaVille placed third, led by Nathan Nichols-Peterson’s low-medalist round of 81.
Triton was paced by Isaac Wall’s third-place round of 85. Chase Butler carded 88, Brock Watkins turned in a 91, and Keegan Westafer and Beau Hepler both shot 93 for the Trojans.
Girls Tennis
With three key players out of the lineup, Triton’s girls tennis team finished eighth with just eight points at the Concord Invitational Saturday.
Host Concord won the invite with a dominant tally of 65 points, and Marian and Elkhart Central tied for second with 32 points.
With 1 singles player Kolbie Mason and 1 doubles partners Emma Ross and Hannah Wanemacher all on a senior trip to Washington D.C., the Lady Trojans’ collected just two wins at the invite. Megan McFarland and Emma Hepler plead fourth, beating Lakeland’s 1 doubles team 6-4, 6-3 in their opener before falling to both Elkhart Central and Jimtown in straight sets.
Ivy Powell and Lexia Hostrowser were sixth, beating LaVille’s 2 doubles team, 7-6(5), 6-4 after their opening-round loss to Marian, and closing with a competitive loss to West Noble.
