Farm Day Camp Provides Hands On Ag Learning
WARSAW — Local youth will have the opportunity to learn about, and experience, agriculture and farming this summer at the second annual Farm Day Camp. This year, campers in grades three through five can take part in the year of poultry and spend a day at one of two local poultry operations.
Campers will have the option to attend camp at Maple Leaf Farms, a duck operation in Leesburg, on June 7, or Creighton Brothers, a chicken operation in Warsaw, on June 8. Both days will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The agenda for both days includes activities and games about animals and crops, including how to know if animals are healthy, what the animals are fed, the uses of soybeans and other crops, and more. Campers will also participate in video tours and compete in the Farm Olympics.
A $10 registration fee will include snacks, lunch, activity supplies, and a T-shirt.
Registration and payment are due to the Kosciusko County Extension Office by May 14. A registration form is available online at extension.purdue.edu/Kosciusko/.
