Saturday Night Police Pursuit Ends With Elkhart Man’s Arrest
WARSAW — A Warsaw police officer attempted to perform a traffic stop on a passenger car in the area of SR 15 and Herscher Drive, Warsaw, Saturday night, April 21.
The vehicle, identified as a black Pontiac G6, briefly stopped before accelerating forward. A police pursuit was initiated southbound on SR 15 to Rozella Road, where the vehicle fled westbound into the county.
Police units from multiple jurisdictions pursued the vehicle through Kosciusko, Marshall and Fulton counties. During the pursuit, officers deployed spike strips in an effort to end the pursuit safely. The pursuit continued until it was terminated in a field near the intersection of North CR 550E and SR 14 after the suspect vehicle shut down.
The driver, Jacob Yeazel, 37, Elkhart, was taken into custody without further incident. Officers located narcotics and paraphernalia on Yeazel as well as inside the vehicle.
Yeazel also had three active warrants out of Elkhart County.
Yeazel was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on charges of fleeing law enforcement in a motor vehicle, a level 6 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 felony; criminal recklessness while using a vehicle, a level 6 felony; and misdemeanor charges for dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. Yeazel was also cited for multiple infractions.
