Raymon Giles
Raymon Giles, 89, Fort Wayne, and formerly of rural Akron, passed at 7:15 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at The Hearth at Sycamore Village Assisted Living of Fort Wayne.
He was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Charleston, Tenn. to McKinley and Ethel (Stanley) Giles.
He married on Feb. 18, 1947, in Bluffton to Marie A. Calacurcio, she survives.
He was an electrician cable splicer owning his own company Ramar Electric Inc. in Ontario, Calif.
He served his country from 1945 to 1949 in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion of Pierceton. He enjoyed doing many remodeling projects, mowing his yard, scuba diving, hunting, fishing, and swing on the porch with his dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Giles, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Renee (Shaun) Knee, Akron; son, Tod (Joyce) Giles, Warsaw; son-in-law, Norm Perry, North Carolina; four grandchildren: Ashley and Courtney Giles, California; Lacey (Logan) Manns, Silver Lake; Melinda (Jeff) Linhares, North Carolina; five great grandchildren: Jacob, Sophia, Liam, Dakota and Karter.
He was preceded in death by is parents; a daughter, Lynda J. Perry; two brothers: John and Bill; and three sisters: Francis, Phyllis and Ruby.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m., Friday, April 20, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. The service will follow after. Pastor Joel Wallenbeck will officiate. Burial will follow at Rochester IOOF Cemetery, Rochester, with graveside military honors being performed by the Fulton County Honor Guard.
