Resisting, Spitting And Threats To Jail Officers Lead To Additional Charges For Hudson
WARSAW — A Warsaw man currently serving time in the Kosciusko County Jail received additional charges after an altercation with law enforcement officers.
Rhydeem Othello Hudson, 20, 404 N. Parker St., Warsaw, is being additionally charged with two counts of battery resulting in bodily injury to a law enforcement officer, level 5 felonies; three counts of battery by bodily waste, level 6 felonies; two counts of resisting law enforcement, level 6 felonies; and intimidation to a law enforcement officer, a level 6 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Wednesday, April 4, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department was working in the satellite control room at the jail. While the jail nurse was passing out medication to inmates on K block, the officer observed Hudson, in L block, attempting to speak with an inmate in K block, which is forbidden by jail rules.
The officer advised Hudson to move away from the door multiple times. Hudson told the officer he was tired of the officers and that the officer needed to watch himself. Hudson informed the officer he better watch himself or he would end up like another officer, mentioning the officer by name.
The officer realized Hudson was referring to an officer he had battered previously and viewed this as a threat. He advised Hudson that he would be receiving a disciplinary write-up and placed in 24-hour lockdown.
At that point, Hudson cursed at the officer and made threats that he would f*** him up. Four officers then entered the cell block to place Hudson in a holding cell. Hudson resisted the officers. While the officers were attempting to place handcuffs on him, Hudson yelled at one of the officers, stating, “I will kill you. I swear on my mama, I’ll get you. Wait ’till I see you out.”
During the altercation, one officer received a laceration to his thumb and another officer received an abrasion on his left forearm. Officers were able to handcuff Hudson and were attempting to place him in a restraint chair when Hudson spit in the mouth and nostrils of a female officer. Hudson then spit on two more officers, striking one on the left side of the head above the ear and the other on the left side of the face.
Hudson is currently incarcerated at the Kosciusko County Jail and received the additional charges on a $20,250 surety and cash bond.
