Mishawaka Woman Arrested For Possession of Meth, Marijuana
WARSAW — A Mishawaka woman was arrested after officers discovered methamphetamine and marijuana in her purse.
Denise M. Napier, 33, 617 W. 9th St., Mishawaka, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On March 2, officers pulled over a vehicle for failing to signal a turn. The vehicle was being driven by a male subject and the passenger in the vehicle was Napier.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, officers asked the male subject if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. He stated that he was unsure since it wasn’t his vehicle.
While waiting for a K9 unit to arrive at the scene, officers talked to Napier, who said that she had marijuana in her purse.
After the K9 unit arrived, officers found methamphetamine, marijuana and a glass pipe that contained white residue in Napier’s purse.
The male subject was unaware that Napier had anything illegal in her possession. He was released from the scene with a warning for failure to signal.
Napier was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on March 2, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
She was released on her bond and will be given an initial hearing for Thursday, March 22.
