Elkhart
Officers with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
11:37 a.m. Sunday, March 11, US 6 and CR 29, north of Syracuse. Driver: Steven Hatton, 37, Indianapolis. Hatton’s vehicle went off the roadway, hitting several small trees, coming to rest in a creek. He was taken to Goshen Hospital for evaluation due to a loss of consciousness during the accident.
Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
4:15 p.m. Friday, March 9, North SR15, near West Monoquet Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Marty D. Collins, 23, Sophie Lane, Warsaw, and Andrew R. Streit, 46, Falcon Brook Court, New Paris. Collins was driving north on SR15 and didn’t see Streit’s vehicle in time, striking Streit’s vehicle in the rear. Damage up to $5,000.
6:30 a.m. Friday, March 9, West CR 200S, west of South County Farm Road, Warsaw. Driver: Mikaela L. Thacker, 19, West CR 100S, Etna Green. Thacker was driving east on CR 200S when a deer ran out into the roadway. Thacker’s vehicle struck the deer. Damage up to $5,000.
7:36 a.m. Monday, March 5, South Old SR15, near South SR15, Warsaw. Drivers: Alicia M. Elder, 28, East Wooster Road 1, Warsaw, and Sydney E. Wiedeman, 17, Stratford Drive, Winona Lake. Elder’s vehicle was stopped behind Wiedeman’s, waiting for Wiedeman’s vehicle to pull out onto the roadway. Elder said that she saw Wiedeman start to pull out, so she began to move her vehicle. However, Wiedeman’s vehicle never pulled away, leading to Elder’s vehicle striking the rear of Wiedeman’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Marshall
Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 10, Veteran’s Parkway, east of Michigan Road, Plymouth. Donna Moyotl-Cuatlacuatl, 19, Plymouth. She was taken to Memorial Hospital South Bend by helicopter for possible head and leg injury.
8:11 p.m. Friday, March 9, US 31 and 13th Road. Drivers: Austin C. Webb, 23, Knox and Terry Burgess, 32, Elkhart. Webb and Myles M. Brewer, 24, North Judson, a passenger, were seriously injured and taken to Memorial Hospital, South Bend in critical condition. Ricky L. Bradley, 26, Plymouth, a passenger in Webb’s vehicle was fatally injured. Webb died from his injuries on Saturday, March 10. Burgess reported no injuries.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
7:57 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 1200 South Huntington Street. While parked at Sunoco Gas Sation, Bruce Albietz’s vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle. A red pickup truck struck a passenger vehicle while backing out and left the scene. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
8:46 a.m. Monday, March 12, North Parker Street, north of Walter Way. Driver: Natasha N. Marshall, 23, North Parker Street, Warsaw. Marshall was pulling out of her driveway when she started to turn, but her vehicle accelerated quickly and she was unable to correct the steering wheel due to a mechanical issue with the steering system. Marshall’s vehicle struck the curb and a light post. Damage up to $5,000.
