Missing Headlight Results In High-Speed Chase, Arrest Of Leesburg Man
NORTH WEBSTER — What started out as a possible ticket for a missing headlight ended with an arrest of a Leesburg man for evading police and possession of methamphetamine.
Steven Cloise Lambert, 38, 411 EMS T26 Lane., Leesburg, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony, resisting law enforcement, a level 6 felony and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
According to North Webster police, Lambert was traveling northbound on SR 13 when an officer observed Lambert’s vehicle was missing a headlight. After police emergency lights were engaged, police said Lambert accelerated his vehicle to speeds as high as 80 miles per hour.
Lambert eventually pulled over near the intersection of SR 13 and CR 900N and was taken into custody. Police then reported observing a small plastic straw with white residue on it along with a plastic bag with approximately 2.5 grams of a white powder, which police said field tested positive as methamphetamine. Police said Lambert told officers he did not see the police lights behind him or hear the siren.
Lambert was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail with a bond of $5,250.
