Police reported that on Feb. 10, officers with the Warsaw Police Department saw a disabled vehicle and approached to find Alvarez asleep in the passenger’s seat. According to officers, Alvarez awoke when police knocked on the window and appeared intoxicated, but no smell of alcohol was detected. Police said Alvarez reported his vehicle had broken down. Alvarez was observed putting his hands in his pockets and fidgeting.
Officers had Alvarez exit the vehicle and patted him down, finding bags containing a white powder and a green leafy substance. Officers reported doing a field test on the powder, which tested positive for methamphetamine.
Alvarez was booked in Kosciusko County Jail for possession of methamphetamine and for violating his parole.
