Warsaw Basketball: Frosh Top Plymouth In NLC Tourney Opener
WARSAW – The winning streak for the Warsaw freshman boys basketball team continued into the postseason Thursday night.
The host Tigers made it 15 straight victories by besting Plymouth 46-27 in the first round of the Northern Lakes Conference Tournament.
Drew McCleary scored 10 points to lead a balanced offensive attack for Warsaw, which moved to 16-2 on the season.
The duo of Luke Adamiec and Bishop Walters each netted eight points for the Tigers. Brock Poe scored seven points and Caleb Sands had four. Mason Martz tallied three points and the trio of Ben Bergen, Tyreese Phillips and Jacob Hawn each had two for the winners.
Warsaw is scheduled to play Elkhart Memorial at 9 a.m. Saturday at Concord High School in a semifinal game of the tourney. Host Concord is also slated to play Wawasee at 9 a.m.. The consolation game and championship game is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Concord.
Due to the weather, the NLC Tournament will now be completed on Monday (Feb. 12) evening at Concord. The two semifinal games will be played at 6 p.m. n McCuen Gym and the Auxiliary Gym with the consolation and championship contests to follow.
