Johnson Has Drug Charges Officially Filed
WARSAW — Official charges have been filed against Haleigh Renae Johnson, 25, 902 Anchorage Road, Lot 11, Warsaw, following her arrest Jan. 12 for possession of methamphetamine.
Charges of possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor, were filed in Kosciusko Circuit Court Jan. 26. She was initially held on $5,250 surety and cash bond, but was released on her own recognizance and will be appearing for an initial hearing Feb. 8.
Court documents state Jan. 12 officers with Warsaw Police Department were on patrol and observed a vehicle matching the description of a suspicious vehicle involved in a robbery. Police followed the vehicle until it stopped in a parking lot where police were able to identify the three occupants.
Police spoke to the three individuals, explaining why officers wished to speak with them. The driver of the vehicle gave police consent to search the vehicle, at which time Johnson was seen putting her hands in her purse. She was advised to stop and all individuals were asked to exit the vehicle.
A K-9 unit was used to search the vehicle and alerted to something inside.
The vehicle and Johnson’s purse were searched. In the purse police found a case with a needle cap, two cut straws and four baggies containing a white residue. The residue tested positive for methamphetamine. Johnson was then placed under arrest.
