Nappanee Board Of Works Approves $3.8 Million Project
NAPPANEE — Nappanee Board of Public Works and Safety approved an infrastructure project at it’s Monday meeting that will cost just over $3.8 million. There are three separate projects within the one major project, but divided by divisions.
Nappanee Mayor Phil Jenkins was authorized to sign the contracts on the project and the notice to proceed, pending receiving some funding from the State Revolving Fund.
The first division is a new well at the well field and the transmission lines along North Nappanee Street, a cost of $1.2 million. HRP Construction was awarded that project.
The second division is the reconstruction of North Nappanee Street. Beer and Slabaugh, Nappanee, was the low bidder at $551,322.95. The project was originally estimated at $571,000. This is an Indiana Department of Transportation project.
The final division of the project is the soccer complex, with the bid going to Phend and Brown, Milford, at a cost of $2.1 million with an extra 30 days time frame on the project. Board of works members were advised the project will actually be closer to $1.7 million as some of the work in this project was moved to the new well project due to the proximity. Change orders are expected to be filed on the project.
The funding for the soccer complex will be locally funded. There is hope to get State Revolving Funds for the new well.
The major projects were presented by Al Strong and Andrew Roberge, Commonwealth Engineers Inc., Fort Wayne.
