Prater Arrested On Drug Charges
WARSAW — A Warsaw woman has been charged with numerous felonies including aiding, inducing or causing dealing in methamphetamine, a level 4 felony.
Tina L. Prater, 50, 401 E. Sycamore St., Silver Lake, was booked Monday afternoon by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. Court documents show she is also known to have an address of 1022 E. Market St., Warsaw.
According to court documents she is being charged with aiding, inducing or causing dealing in methamphetamine, a level 4 felony; possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, assisting a criminal, all level 6 felonies and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
She is being held on a $15,250 surety and cash bond.
Warsaw Police received information Nov. 28, 2017, Rachael Fruit, who was wanted on two warrants, was at a location in the city limits. The officer went to the residence and spoke with Prater, the homeowner, who advised Fruit was not at that location and gave permission to look through the residence. Police found Fruit in the basement of the residence.
While Fruit was being arrested on the failure to appear for possession of methamphetamine and fraud, both level 6 felonies, officers observed a glass smoking device, cut straws, crushed powders and a mirror with a white powdery residue. Fruit advised police the items were hers but there was another person who also stays at the residence. Prater told police she allows Fruit and the other person to stay at the residence.
After obtaining a search warrant, police found cash, three smoking bongs, two digital scales, homemade smoking device, a leather case with white residue, a glass plate with white residue, plastic baggie containing a crystal substance, four bags containing a white residue and another containing a brown substance, a drug ledger, a glass container with clear crystal substance and razor blade with white residue. Police also found receipts and paperwork in Fruit and Whitaker’s names. A cellphone was confiscated.
The results of field testing the substances found at the residence found the items to be positive for heroin, weighing .3 grams, methamphetamine, weighing 3.4 grams. The residue found tested positive for methamphetamine.
Police also found between Oct. 26, 2017, and Nov. 15, 2017, there were conversations showing Prater was involved in selling methamphetamine.
