LCA Basketball: Cornerstone Prepared For Battle
FORT WAYNE – Cornerstone Christian had just four players score, but they did plenty of heavy lifting in a 68-60 win over Lakeland Christian boys basketball Tuesday night.
James Smith went bananas in the fourth quarter, scoring 14 of his 25 points and Cornerstone had Jamarcus Eldridge net five of his 15 points. Smith hit three three-pointers in the fourth, all coming down the stretch, and added eight total rebounds. Eldridge had six rebounds in the game.
Ta’Khil Lockett hit four three-pointers and ended with 22 points, and was a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Eriq Lockett added six points on a pair of threes, Cornerstone burying 10 treys overall on the night.
LCA, which led by seven points with two minutes to go, saw Josh McDaniel drop 22 points, 12 coming in the fourth quarter. Noah Twombly tossed in 12 points and five boards and Jake Harmon was held to just four points, but contributed seven assists. The normally stout-shooting Cougars from three-point range were just 1-8 from behind the stripe on the night.
LCA falls to 7-10 overall and next hosts Lakewood Park on Feb. 1.
