LCA Basketball: Sage, Arter Help Sink LCA
ELKHART – Weston Sage and Gabe Arter each scored 14 points as Elkhart Christian topped visiting Lakeland Christian 51-31 Thursday night in boys basketball.
Sage, the leading scorer on the Eagles, scored 10 of the team’s first 12 points, and all in the first quarter. LCA did a job on Sage the rest of the way, holding him without a field goal the remaining 24 minutes.
Arter nailed four three-pointers to help his contributions, and teammate Jon Burns added 12 points and five rebounds.
For what LCA did to contain Sage the final three quarters, ECA returned the favor on the Cougars’ top scorer in Josh McDaniel. After a trio of huge games coming into the night, McDaniel was held without a field goal until he hit a three-pointer in the fourth quarter. McDaniel would finish with six points, 13 below his average.
Landon Twombly led LCA with 14 points and four assists, and Braxton Keller chipped in seven rebounds.
ECA also stormed LCA in the JV game in a 70-30 final.
LCA falls below .500 at 7-8 overall and will look to get to sea level Saturday in hosting Clinton Christian.
