Warsaw Swimming: Boys Win, Girls Lose To Eagles
CULVER – The Warsaw swim teams went 1-1 in action at Culver Academy Tuesday night.
The boys squad picked up a 116-64 win over the hosts, while CGA took the girls meet by a 105-78 count.
The trio of Evan Borchers, Grant Knight and Nick Zogbi each picked up a pair of individual wins to pace the Tigers to the victory.
Borchers took first in the 200 freestyle and 100 fly races in times of 1:56.60 and 56.91 respectively. Knight won the 200 IM in 2:10.17 and also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.89. Zogbi claimed top honors in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:25.70 and won the 100 backstroke in 1:01.88.
The Tigers also captured first place in all three relay events on the night, winning the 200 medley relay in 1:44.67, the 200 freestyle relay in 1:33.54 and the 400 freestyle relay in 3:36.08.
The Warsaw boys team improves to 7-3 on the season. They will swim at LaPorte on Saturday and then compete in the NLC Championship Meet on Jan. 25 and 27 at Concord High School.
The duo of Laurel Moeller and Taylor Gunter were each double-winners on the ladies side for Warsaw.
Moeller won the 200 freestyle in a top time of 2:08.48 and also placed first in the 500 freestyle in 5:47.67. Gunter was first in the 200 IM in 2:31.07 and won the 100 fly in 1:07.43.
The Warsaw girls also won the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:47.28.
The Warsaw girls team is also 7-3 on the season. They will compete at LaPorte on Saturday and then host the sectional on Feb. 1 and 3.
