Triton Basketball: AD McIntyre Updates Community On Schedule Changes
From an email provided by Triton High School Athletic Director Mason McIntyre:
Triton Community,
As many of you know, the Triton High School gym had a pipe that burst in the boys locker room on the evening of Sunday, Jan. 7 that caused flooding in the locker room and also out onto the gym floor. The water was removed as quickly as possible after the leak was found. However, the damage had already been done to the gym floor, leaving it in an unplayable state. Since that time, we have been working with different restoration groups, flooring companies and our insurance company to make the best decision possible to ensure the safety of our students during physical education and our athletes during their practices and contests. Currently, we are waiting on the insurance company’s final decision about the next steps for our gym floor.
In the meantime, we have had to find alternate sites for both practices and games for the boys and girls JV and varsity basketball teams. Obviously, the most likely place is the Triton Elementary gym. However, we are not able to accommodate all of our fans in the Triton Elementary gym so most of the remaining boys JV/varsity basketball games have been moved to Plymouth High School (Jan. 29, Feb. 1, 9, 13 and 23). Triton is also supposed to host the boys basketball sectional and regional. Although we have not made a decision to move those tournaments away from Triton, it is most likely that they will be moved. A determination on that will be made in the next week or two.
The practice and game schedules will be inconvenient for the remainder of the winter, with many changes taking place. We will do our best to stick to this schedule, but obviously things may pop up that will cause us to deviate. I thank you in advance for your cooperation, flexibility and patience as we work through the process!
