‘Legends’ Robotics Team Qualifies For State Championship
SYRACUSE — The Wawasee High School Iron Pride robotics team, “Legends,” consisting of Madi McDonald, Joe LeCount, Zach Avery and Davey Daffron, qualified for the Indiana VEX Robotics State Championships by emerging victorious at a competition Saturday, Jan. 13, at Plymouth High School.
“Centurion” consisting of Micah and Evan Rassi, Joe Kelsheimer and Nicholas Murphy made it to the final round before losing to the “Legends” team. “Centurion” also won the judges award.
“Amazon” consisting of Allison Cole also made it to the final round.
“Valkyrie” made up of Taylor Fiedeke and Vanessa Wright and “Xerxes” consisting of Nathan Smith, Ethan Hays, Braxton Studabaker and Aarron McKinney made it to the quarterfinals. “Immortals” consisting of Cory Dunivan, Wesley Hays, Jack Collins and Noah Beckner made it to the semifinals.
The state championships will be held March 10 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Iron Pride will also compete this coming weekend at the Warsaw Career Center.
