Goshen’s Sam’s Club Among Three To Close In State
GOSHEN — Goshen’s Sam’s Club Store, 4024 Elkhart Road, Suite 1, with 110 employees, is one of three Sam’s Club Stores in Indiana that will be closing Jan. 28. The other two locations are in Indianapolis.
The stores in Fort Wayne and Mishawaka will not be affected by the closing.
The last day for hourly employees will be March 16 and management employees will be released April 13.
Officials with Walmart have detailed its plans to close a total of 63 stores throughout the country. The closure of the three locations in Indiana will affect nearly 420 workers. The announcement came the same day the company announced its plans to increase the starting wage for hourly employees and expand certain benefits.
According to an article by Alex Brown with INdiana Business, 63 stores throughout the country are being shuttered. Up to 12 of them will be converted into eCommerce fulfillment centers. Only one location for such a center, Memphis, Tenn., has been unveiled.
Eligible employees affected by the closures will receive a one-time cash bonus of up to $1,000, 60 days of pay and severance.
