Teen Faces Criminal Charges For Robbery, Intimidation
WARSAW — A 17-year-old is facing criminal charges after turning a gun on two minors and stealing money.
Richard Daniel Williams, 17, 202 S. Rowland Ave., Leesburg, is preliminarily being charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, a level 3 felony, intimidation with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony and theft, a class A misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, a minor, identified as AA, spoke with a Warsaw Police Department officer on Nov. 8 regarding an encounter he had with Williams. AA advised that he had a conversation with Williams on Snapchat about purchasing a handgun. AA and another minor, identified as BB, picked Williams up. BB advised officers that they parked in the Leesburg cemetery parking lot so AA could look at the gun.
According to AA, Williams placed a Glock 17 in AA’s lap, told him to check it out and wanted him to purchase it. Williams then took the handgun, placed a magazine into it and held it to the back of AA’s head and told AA to give him the money he had brought. AA gave Williams $200 and Williams exited the vehicle while pointing the gun at the two minors.
BB advised officers that Williams placed the Glock 17 and the magazine on the center console. AA picked up the gun, looked at and gave Williams $200. Williams then grabbed the gun, placed the magazine in it and pointed the gun at the minors before exiting the vehicle.
Williams was booked into Kosciusko County Jail on Dec. 18 and held on a $20,250 surety and cash bond.
