NORTH WEBSTER — December is the time for Christmas stories, and now you can read Christmas stories for a chance to win a prize at North Webster Community Public Library. Throughout December, every time you check out and read a Christmas book, fill out an entry form with the book title, your name and phone number, and enter it in the drawing for a chance to win a prize. The more books you read, the more chances you have to win. The winner will be drawn the beginning of January.
Due to the holidays, Voyager Book Club will meet on a different day and time this month. Instead 10 a.m. on the fourth Monday, Voyager will meet at 1 p.m. the third Monday, Dec. 18, to discuss inspirational books. If you have read an inspiring book lately, bring it to Voyager Book Club to share and discuss.
Earlier that day at 10 a.m. Writer’s Corner will meet to share their compositions on being an elf. If you enjoy writing, join the group the third Monday each month as they write on various subjects and share their writings.
Monday’s activities wrap up with R.E.A.D. Book Club at 5:30 p.m. as participants discuss The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton. R.E.A.D Book Club will not meet throughout the coming winter months and will resume again in May.
Appetizers are on the menu for Revolving Recipe Round-Up at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19. Prepare your favorite appetizer and bring it to share and sample along with the recipe. It will be a fun and delicious way to pick up new ideas and recipes for your holiday parties.
In the youth department, Crafts and Stories and Paws-To-Read, at 4 p .m. every Tuesday, will continue for the kids throughout Christmas break, except for Dec. 26, when the library will be closed. Although Crafts and Stories is open to all, Paws-To-Read is by appointment only. Kids can schedule a private 15-minute reading session with therapy dog Echo at the youth services desk or by calling (574) 834-7122, ext. 202.
Bring the kids to a free movie 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21 and see an animated Disney movie about a legendary race car up against a new generation of super-fast cars and his determinaton to prove he is still a top racer. The movie is rated G and runs 1 hour 49 minutes. Bring your own drinks and enjoy the free popcorn.
To celebrate the holidays, the library will be closed Monday, Dec. 25, Tuesday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 1.
