Martha Ann (Nestel) Egolf

Martha Ann Egolf, 85, Churubusco, passed away at 2:48 p.m. Dec. 11, in Fort Wayne.

Born on April 22, 1932 in Whitley County, a daughter of Abraham and Ruth (Beavers) Nestel. She spent her formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1950.

She was married on Oct. 1, 1950 to Russell J. Egolf in Churubusco. The couple moved to their farm in Green Township. Russell preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 2008.

Martha worked at Dana Corporation, Churubusco, as well as helping with the family farm. She was a member of the Churubusco United Methodist Church and served as the church organist for 25 years including years at the former EUB church. She enjoyed her time dancing in the former Boots ‘n Bonnets Square Dancing Club. She wintered in Apache Junction, Az where she was active in activities at the Golden Vist Park.

Martha is survived by four children, Jann (David) Johnson, Mel (Susie) Egolf, Ned (Cathy) Egolf all of Churubusco and Brian (Judy) Egolf of Albion; two sisters-in-law, Janet Nestel and Connie Nestel Teghtmeyer; 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Roger and Dale Nestel.

Visiting hours were held at Sheets and Childs Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, calling also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Services began at 10 a.m., at Churubusco United Methodist Church on Saturday, Dec. 16. Burial followed at Christian Chapel Cemetery.
