Warsaw Man Strangles, Threatens To Kill Female Victim
WARSAW — During an argument a Warsaw man strangled a female victim and threatened to kill her while holding a knife.
Carlos Genod Austin, 34, 503 W. Center St., Warsaw, is being charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; strangulation, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Nov. 7, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department spoke with a female victim regarding an argument she had with Austin. The female advised that Austin placed his hands around her neck and choked her until she could not breathe. The officer observed redness and a scratch on the female’s neck.
According to the female, the two continued to argue and Austin grabbed a steak knife. He held the knife over his head in a downward angle and stated, “I’m going to kill you.” The female then left the residence and went to the police department.
The officer traveled to the residence and spoke with Austin. He admitted the two were arguing and advised he had grabbed the female by her shoulders and told her to leave. He further admitted to taking possession of the knife during the argument but said he did not use the knife. Austin told the officer that if he would have used the knife he would have killed the female.
Austin was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 7, with a $10, 250 surety and cash bond.
