Girls Swimming
The swim calendar officially got underway for Wawasee at home Tuesday night. East Noble came to Syracuse and found enough to squeak out a 92-84 win over the Lady Warriors at the Wawasee Middle School Natatorium.
Ella Park and Rileigh Atwood had huge opening nights for the Lady Warriors. Park took both the 200 free (2:07.92) and the 500 free (5:37.19) while Atwood won the individual medley (2:28.29) and breaststroke (1:12.92).
The two paired with Belle Brunner and Alyssa Koch to also win both the 200 free relay (1:53.22) and 400 free relay (4:09.76).
Wawasee (0-1) will open Northern Lakes Conference action Saturday against Warsaw, joining the boys teams in their opener against the Tigers.
Middle School Basketball
The sixth grade Milford boys basketball team fell to Fairfield in a pair of games in Milford.
The ‘A’ team lost 38-30, getting outscored 13-5 in the fourth quarter by the Falcons. Darius Lewis paced the Milford squad with 15 points and Ty Brooks came in with five points.
The ‘B’ team didn’t have it in a 47-5 setback. Fairfield used a 24-0 run in the first half to make it official.
