Former Corrections Officer Criminally Charged With Felonies
KOSCIUSKO — Criminal charges have been filed against Patrick Olson for alleged misconduct while being employed as a Community Corrections Officer at the Kosciusko County Community Correction Department. Olson is being charged with sexual misconduct by service provider, a level 5 felony, and aiding/inducing/causing escape, a level 6 felony.
On Aug. 4, a female offender was sentenced to community corrections on home detention and fitted with an ankle bracelet. Olson was assigned to monitor the female but advised his director, Anna Bailey, that he had feelings for the female. Olson was immediately removed from monitoring the female and told to have no further contact with her.
On Sept. 29, Olson removed the female offender’s ankle bracelet and took her to Valparaiso for the weekend. After the weekend trip, he brought her back home and replaced the ankle bracelet. Olson then told Bailey about removing the bracelet.
The female offender advised Olson was her case manager but that it eventually turned into more. She told the investigating officer that they spent two nights in a hotel and had sexual intercourse.
The Kosciusko County Judicial officials would normally be assigned to this case but, being members of the Kosciusko County Community Corrections Board, recognized the existence of a conflict of interest. Marshall County Judge Robert Bowen will preside over the case.
