Silver Lake Town Council Approves Sediment Trap Proposal
SILVER LAKE — A sediment trap proposal was approved at a brief Silver Lake Town Council meeting Wednesday, Nov. 8. The sediment trap, at a cost of $12,765, will prevent or reduce sediment build up in the channel between Neher Road and Eldora Drive and keep the waterway open for use.
Unused funds provided by the DNR grant will be used for this project. The town will apply for a permit from the DNR for glacial stone to be used in the completion of this project.
A street sweeping contract was signed with the State Highway Department for SR 14 and SR 15. This will provide the town with compensation for use of equipment and labor per every curb mile cleaned.
The Silver Lake Fire Department will be installing smoke alarms provided by the Red Cross. A waiver must be filled out and signed. A representative from the Silver Lake Fire Department will contact interested residents to set up a date and time for installation. The waiver forms are available at the Silver Lake Town Hall. Free smoke alarm batteries may also be picked up at the Silver Lake Town Hall. A limit of three smoke alarm batteries per household will be given.
