Warsaw Woman Fraudulently Uses Debit Card Of Lakeland Rehab Resident
KOSCIUSKO — A Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Milford, resident had her debit card stolen. A Warsaw woman was identified as stealing the card and making nine fraudulent charges totaling $1,190.25.
Jordyn Teresa Walker, 22, 114 Rattington Circle, Warsaw, is being charged with three counts of fraud and theft, all level six felonies.
On Oct. 10, an officer with the Milford Police Department responded to a theft at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. The officer spoke with a resident who advised her credit card was stolen and nine fraudulent charges had been made. The resident never gave anyone permission or consent to use her card.
The resident’s card had been used twice at Wilby’s gas station on Oct. 4, for two transactions of $202.50. The card was also used at Walmart on the same day for $699.04. Smaller transactions were also made at Dollar General and Marathon. Walmart loss prevention was able to provide surveillance video and photographs of a female subject using the resident’s debit card. Employees at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center were able to identify the female photographed using the stolen card as Walker.
Walker admitted to seeing the resident’s debit card lying on the floor in her room. Walker advised she took the card and used it to complete all nine of the fraudulent transactions.
Walker was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 6, with a $3,500 surety and cash bond.
