Lutheran Health Network KCH Freaky 5K Raises $4,500 For The Cancer Care Fund
KOSCIUSKO — Oct. 28 was a cold morning for the 110 runners and walkers who participated in the Lutheran Health Network KCH Freaky 5K. The race traveled through the Beyer Trail and along the Warsaw Greenway. Over $4,500 was raised and many participants came dressed in their Halloween costumes.
Prior to the start, Race Director Ron Smock outlined the purpose of the Cancer Care Fund and how it assists cancer patients in Kosciusko County. He presented a pie chart showing that this year, over $150,000 had been given to more than 100 cancer patients and their families for rent, mortgages, utilities, car payments, food, insurance and prescriptions.
Smock thanked KCH and the Lutheran Health Network for their title sponsorship and acknowledged the other sponsors that included The Car Company, Warsaw Family Dentistry, Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw Buick GMC, SYM Financial Advisors, Safeway Garage Door and ONE Ortho Northeast. Rabb Kinetico provided water for the participants and Martin’s Supermarket provided apples and bananas.
The Cancer Care Fund is administered by the K21 Health Foundation at no cost to the CCF.
