Kosciusko Commissioners Award One Bid, Table Another
KOSCIUSKO — At a brief Kosciusko Commissioners meeting held Tuesday, Oct. 31, Kosciusko Board of Finance Treasurer Rhonda Helser was in attendance to elect a new president for the Board of Finance due to the resignation of Ron Truex. Helser stated she spoke with Kosciusko Commissioner Vice-President Bob Conley prior to the meeting and that Conley had agreed to take over the position for the remainder of the year. This was approved by commissioners, and Conley was appointed president of the Board of Finance.
County Highway Department Supervisor Scott Tilden approached commissioners regarding the opening of bids for the bridge 18 project on CR 300N over Tippecanoe River.
County Attorney Chad Miner informed commissioners that although the county submitted notice of the bids to two local newspapers, the information was only published in one newspaper. Miner suggested tabling the bids for now. The county will be resubmitting the information to the newspapers, and the bids will be opened at 9:15 Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the Kosciusko Commissioners meeting.
Kosciusko Commissioner President Brad Jackson stated that Robinson Construction, Warsaw, had submitted the lowest bid for the new county highway administration building and additions to the existing maintenance garage. Conley moved to award the bid to Robinson Construction, with the motion being approved.
In other news:
- Kosciusko County Clerk of the Court Ann Torpy submitted a renewal for the annual maintenance and database agreement. This was approved by commissioners.
- KABS General Manager Amanda Landis presented five documents that required approval and signatures from the commissioners, including two grant agreements, a quarterly financial report, a limited power of attorney document and a contract invoice. All documents were approved and signed.
- County Auditor Michelle Puckett presented an inter-local agreement resolution between the county and the Kosciusko Solid Waste District. Puckett said this is the same contract they’ve had for several years. The agreement was approved by commissioners.
- The next regular meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14.
