Grace Golf: Men’s Team Rebounds Well At Egypt Valley
ADA, Mich. – After struggling as a team on Monday in the Egypt Valley Intercollegiate, Grace’s men’s golf team recovered in the second round on Tuesday.
Grace’s team dropped its collective score by 16 strokes at Egypt Valley Country Club, placing 11th in a large field of 14 teams.
Tristan Nienhuis was the steadiest hand Grace had. He shot a round of 79 both days, finishing in 21st place out of 73 golfers.
Camden Gongwer improved by three strokes, carding an 84-81. Chad Spencer showcased one of the biggest improvements in the field, dropping his total by 16 strokes between rounds. His second-round 77 was the lowest round by a Lancer.
Jacob Kennedy finished the tournament with an 89-92, and Cameron Bates rounded out the team’s scoring with a 183.
Tim Rata and Isaiah Brown played as individuals in the tournament. Rata was Grace’s second-best golfer, producing an 83-81 for the tournament, and Brown ended his tournament well with an 81 on Tuesday.
The Lancers end the week at the Calumet Invitational at Sandy Pines Golf Club.
