Richard A. Swank
Richard A. Swank, 83, of Kimmell, passed away on Oct. 13, 2017 at the North Ridge Village in Albion. He was born on Nov. 26, 1933 in Kendallville to Frank and Gertrude (Wenner) Swank. On Aug. 25, 1955 he married Annette Williams High Wycombe, England. After 47 years of marriage together, Annette preceded him in death on Nov. 7, 2002.
Richard is survived by his three children: Sandra Steed of Wolcottville, Grant Swank of Indianapolis and Michael (Michelle) Swank of Kimmell; four Grandchildren: Kristin (Kenny) Bontrager, Matthew Steed, Christopher Swank, Stephanie Swank; two Great-Grandchildren: Jillian and Morgan Bontrager.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Annette Swank, his parents, and a brother, Frank Swank Jr.
He graduated from Cromwell High School. He served his country honorably in the United Sates Air Force from 1953-1955. He was a very hard worker who loved to work with his hands. He loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. Back in the day, he was a member of the Cromwell Lutheran Church and the Ligonier American Legion — Post 243. He coached little league baseball for many years in Kimmell and loved to watch it. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, landscaping, birdwatching, and spending time outdoors. Richard was an avid bowler and had a knack for completing jig-saw puzzles.
A time of visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017 from 2 – 6 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. A funeral service will take place on Monday, Oct. 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Yeager Funeral Home. An additional hour of visitation will take place from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service on Monday. Pastor Purda Hicks will officiate.
Burial will take place at Sparta cemetery in Kimmell following the funeral service.
