Caucus Set To Elect County Commissioner
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — Long-time Kosciusko County Commissioner Ron Truex has had to resign his position due to relocating his residency out of his elected district. “We are saddened by the news of Ron’s resignation,” said Mike Ragan, Kosciusko County Republican chairman. “As chairman of the Kosciusko County Republican Party, I join all Republicans in congratulating and thanking Ron for his 17 years of distinguished service to our county.”
Because of the resignation, a Republican caucus has been called for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, to elect a new Kosciusko County Commissioner-Middle District. All eligible precinct committeemen will gather to vote for Truex’s replacement.
Persons eligible must meet residence requirements and be a Republican in good standing. A declaration of candidacy must be filed with Ragan no later than 72 hours prior to the start of the caucus. Declaration of candidacy forms are available at the office of the Kosciusko County Clerk of the Circuit Court, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw. Forms can be mailed to Mike Ragan, chairman of the Kosciusko County Republican Central Committee, 1458 E. 75N, Warsaw, IN 46582 or emailed to [email protected].
For further questions persons can contact Ragan by phone at (574) 265-1430.
It was recently brought to Truex’s attention his recent move may be outside the middle district boundaries. It was then confirmed Truex’s current home is west of the line separating the middle and southern districts, and he would need to resign.
“In a twist of fate, my east property line is the line dividing the middle and southern districts. I live west of my east property line,” Truex stated, adding, “I missed it by an inch.”
