William “Bill” C. Helms, 68, Larwill, passed away at home on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017. He was born on Oct. 15, 1948 the son of Elbert and Betty (Huftine) Helms in South Bend. Bill married Linda Simcox in 1970. They were married 33 years and had two sons, Gabriel Helms and Gage Robert Helms, both of Larwill.

He is also survived by three nephews, Robert Vermillion of Oswego, Matthew Vermillion of North Webster and Michael Simcox of Fort Wayne, who he loved and cared for like sons; one sister, Connie (Helms) White a brother-in-law, Larry, both of South Bend; two brothers, Leon Helms of Arkansas, and Danny Sedam of South Bend.

Bill served our country honorably in the United States Navy during Vietnam and retired from Zimmer after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a sports enthusiast, avid card player, and fisherman. In years past, Bill loved hunting coons with his beloved coon dogs.

A celebration of Bill’s life will take place from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at the Warsaw American Legion Post 49, 301 North Buffalo Street, Warsaw, IN 46580. A cremation committal has taken place with Mishler Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
