Former Warsaw Star Miller Competes In XC Invite At ND
SOUTH BEND – Allison Miller was back in the area showcasing her running talents on Friday.
Miller, a former cross country and track standout at WCHS, competed as a member of the Butler University cross country team in the Joe Piane Invitational held at Notre Dame.
Miller, now a freshman at Butler, covered the 5,000-meter course on the Burke Golf Course in a time of 19:28.5. Miller was the No. 6 runner on the day for the Bulldogs and finished in 143rd place of the 203 runners in the Women’s Gold Race.
Miller was a seven-time State Finals participant in cross country and track during her prep career as a standout distance runner for coaches Scott Erba and Matt Campbell at WCHS. She was also class valedictorian and a Lilly Scholar.
The Butler women’s team finished in 15th place out of the 25 teams in the Invitational field.
Sophomore Josephine Thertrup was the top finisher for the Bulldogs as she placed eighth in a time of 17:31.8.
Emily Martin of Creighton was the individual women’s champion with a top effort of 16:58.1.
Northern Iowa captured the team title in the women’s division of the event.
Butler will return to action on Oct. 14 as it competes in the NCAA Pre-Nationals at Louisville.
