Melissa A. “Missy” Platz
Melissa A. “Missy” Platz, 60, passed away at 2:02 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, from an allergic reaction after a bee sting. Missy was born on July 14, 1957, in Indianapolis, to the late James O. and Imogene “Jean” (Williams) Clay. She has lived most of her life in Lakeville.
She is survived by her two daughters, Carrie (Jasen) Simcox, Akron, and Amanda (Aaron) Remble, South Bend; two grandchildren, Dylan Simcox, and Addison Remble; her companion with whom she made her home, Don Palmer, Lakeville; sister, Tia (Jeff) Gessinger, Goshen; brother, John (Janie) Tilton, West Chester Township, Ohio; and niece, Kim Tilton.

Missy was a retired LPN working for various nursing homes and home care. She formerly owned and operated her own business, Nurses PRN, Etc. Missy was a passionate person always wanting to help anyone in need. She loved animals, friends and most importantly her family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Palmer Funeral Home, within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville. Pastor Todd Zimmerman will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, at Palmer Funeral Home. A private interment will take place.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Melissa A. Platz may be donated to Robert L. Miller, Sr. Veteran’s Center, 747 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46601.
