Parkview Offers Suicide Prevention Training
FORT WAYNE — Parkview Behavioral Health and several regional partners will be hosting a series of free suicide awareness and prevention training sessions on Saturday, Sept. 23. It is also known as “Super QPR Saturday.” QPR stands for question, persuade and refer, a technique used to recognize the signs of someone at risk of suicide, offer hope and get that person the care they need.
“Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, those trained in QPR know how to recognize the warning signs and also save a life,” said Connie Kerrigan, director of community outreach, Parkview Behavioral Health. “We’re passionate about helping those who may be experiencing mental health issues and we’re committed to teaching others how to recognize and respond to a mental health crisis.”
