TRC Golf: Squires Up To The Test
HUNTINGTON – Manchester has shown the signs of being a contender, and made the step forward Saturday at the Three Rivers Conference Girls Golf Championships at Norwood Golf Club.
The Lady Squires shot a 371 team score to run away with the tournament, 30 shots better than runner-up Northfield’s 401. Maconaquah (430), Peru (432) and Wabash (436) rounded out the top five.
Whitko was seventh with a 488 score, and Tippecanoe Valley’s golf team placed eighth at 539.
Kelsey Eichenauer shot 87 for low medal honors to help lead the Lady Squires to the team title, while Lydia Little and Samantha Kissell tied for seven with Southwood’s Chloe Kendall with scores of 93, and Cora Barnett placed ninth for Manchester with a 98 score. Madyson Ulrey shot 102 for 15th place to complete Manchester’s score.
Leading Whitko was Erin Starkweather with a 112 score, while Bailey Wright shot 119, Summer West shot 122, Makayla Compton carded 135, and Kayce Sims turned in a 136.
Valley’s best score was Makayla Sandbakken’s 106. Bethany Johnson shot 135, Jordan Krotke shot 145, and Kelsey Shafer finished in 153.
Manchester will come back to Norwood next Saturday to take part in the Huntington North Sectional, while Tippecanoe Valley and Whitko will compete at Stonehenge in the Warsaw Sectional.
