Fourth Man Arrested In Storage Unit Thefts
WARSAW — The fourth individual involved in the storage unit thefts earlier this summer has been arrested and booked in the Kosciusko County Jail.
Philip Joseph Hoover, 33, with addresses of 114 S. I St., Warsaw, and 11 Gregory Drive, Anderson, has been arrested in connection with thefts from storage units. He was arrested Wednesday evening, Sept. 6.
Charges of burglary, a level 5 felony, and theft, a level 6 felony, have been filed against Hoover. He was held on $10,250 surety and cash bond. He was also booked on a probation violation from an earlier charge of residential entry. He has a $1,000 cash bond on that charge.
Scotty Allen Poe, 18, with addresses of 504 W. Main St., Mentone, and 600 Oldfather St., Warsaw, was booked Aug. 10. Frank McGuire, 33, 2929 S. County Farm Road, Warsaw; and Jake Waddle, 38, 208 N. Poplar St., Silver Lake, were arrested Wednesday, Aug. 9.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, break-ins to four storage units were reported to Warsaw Police Department and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
The burglaries resulted in the theft of firearms, a large number of miscellaneous items, checks, electronic devices, speakers and DirecTV equipment were stolen. The stolen checks were forged and cashed at Lake City Bank, and some of the stolen items were pawned.
Court documents state Aug. 3, police went with a parole officer to one of the suspects residences and during a search some of the items were located. Hoover was identified after reviewing a surveillance camera at one of the storage units.
