Take Advantage Of Library Resources During Library Card Sign-Up Month
MILFORD — This September, sign up at Milford Public Library for a resource everyone needs: a library card. September is Library Card Sign-up Month – a time when the American Library Association and libraries across the country remind parents that a library card is the most important school supply of all.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Library Card Sign-up Month. Library Card Sign-up Month is a time to bring attention to the supportive role libraries and librarians play in transforming lives and communities through education.
Whether it’s family storytimes, summer reading programming, craft nights, or educational workshops, a library card is a ticket to free educational resources and activities for students and their families.
It is free to obtain a library card at Milford Public Library for residents of East Jefferson and Van Buren townships. To get a library card, you must bring one form of identification and proof of residency. Anyone age six and up can get a library card, though parents or guardians need to sign for children.
For non-residents, the cost of a Milford Public Library card is $56. We encourage potential patrons to look around at neighboring libraries to find the one that suits them. We are always happy to help individuals with any questions. Please call (574) 658-4312 or email [email protected] with further inquiries.
Since Milford Public Library is a member of lending consortium Evergreen Indiana, patrons can also borrow materials at Syracuse Public Library and North Webster Community Public Library. Individuals can also place holds on items at over 100 Evergreen Indiana institutions.
The Milford Public Library will be closed Monday, Sept. 4 for Labor Day. Have a safe and happy holiday! You can return materials to the book drop located on the south end of the building. We will be open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
