MILFORD — At approximately 10:40 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, Milford Fire Department and Lutheran EMS were called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Main and Syracuse streets on the north edge of Milford.
Upon arrival, first responders found a Lowe’s Home Improvement store flatbed truck had collided with the driver’s side door of a silver Nissan Titan pickup truck.
According to the driver of the Lowe’s vehicle, he was traveling eastbound on Syracuse Street. As he approached the intersection with Main Street, which is a four-way stop, he attempted to stop his vehicle but reported that his brakes failed. The pickup truck, containing the driver and one passenger, proceeded northbound through the intersection and was broadsided by the larger vehicle.
The driver of the Nissan was extracted by Milford Fire Department personnel using Jaws of Life. The passenger was able to be removed from the passenger side door without mechanical assistance.
Lutheran Air was requested for the Nissan’s driver and a landing zone was established on the east side of PigTek, located four blocks east of the accident site. The patient was transported by Lutheran EMS to the transfer site with unknown injuries.
Turkey Creek Township Paramedics transferred the Nissan’s passenger to Goshen Hospital. The driver of the Lowe’s truck refused medical assistance.
