Volleyball

The NorthWood volleyball team ended up on the short end of a tough five-set match at Rochester.

The host Zebras rallied to win 25-13, 25-27, 23-25, 25-18, 18-16 in the non-conference tussle.

Haylee Pennington paced the Panther offense with 18 kills. Kennedy Wiens slammed 13 kills for NorthWood.

Whitney Gessinger led the defense with 27 digs and Wiens totaled 22. Wiens had two service aces and Courtney Lengacher added one.

Maddy Payne had seven blocks and Natalie Graber three. Lengacher racked up 43 assists.

NorthWood will play in the Prairie Heights Invitational on Saturday.

Boys Soccer

The NorthWood boys soccer team opened league play with a 3-0 loss at Northridge in a Northern Lakes Conference match.

The Panthers return to conference action Saturday by hosting Concord.
