Budget For 2018 Moves Forward
SYRACUSE — A second budget hearing for the Wawasee Community School Corporation was held Tuesday, Aug. 22, in Syracuse. Fiscal year 2018 is approaching.
Jim Evans, director of finance for WCSC, provided proof to the school board the 2018 budget has been advertised in local newspapers. There was no one from the public at the board meeting to speak for or against the budget, which is typical.
The school board will consider adoption of the budget at its regular monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the Warrior Room of Wawasee High School.
A few other agenda items were considered during Tuesday’s board meeting. Board policy updates were approved including, among others, some minor changes to the school lunch policy and proper use of the 1:1 devices. All of the school board policies are available on the school corporation website, www.wawasee.k12.in.us.
Approval was also given to incorporating the new Raptor security system into the Wawasee High School student handbook. All visitors to the building will not be allowed past the main entrance without having a state ID scanned or some other application. Raptor will be in service sometime after Labor Day.
Some personnel changes were approved, too, including the addition of a few cafeteria workers, Title I paraprofessionals, a custodian and a summer mower and groundskeeper.
