Rose L. Whitaker, 84, Claypool, passed away at 8:14 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, in Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.  She was born June 28, 1933 in Magoffin County, Ky. to Harlen and Kate (Neely) Shepherd.

In 1951, she married Arnold Whitaker.  Rose worked at Jomac as a sewer.  She was a lifetime resident of Claypool, IN for 48 years. 

She is survived by her sons: Don Whitaker of Claypool; Jesse Whitaker of Claypool; daughter, Brenda Miller of Warsaw; sisters: Charity Shepherd of Kentucky; Fredia Alton of Michigan; Melvia Shepherd of Kentucky; Bobbie Boyd of Ohio; brothers, Chandler Shepherd of Silver Lake; Jay Shepherd of Kentucky; Glen Shepherd of Kentucky; Delmer Shepherd of Kentucky; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m.-noon, Wednesday, Aug. 16, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service will follow immediately at noon with Pastor Terry Bradford officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
