McGuire, Waddle Arrested On Burglary Charges
WARSAW — Franklin Troy McGuire, 33, 2929 S. County Farm Road, Warsaw, and Jacob Jack Waddle, 38, 208 N. Poplar St., Silver Lake, were incarcerated in the Kosciusko County Jail on charges relating to burglaries of a number of storage units in the county.
Charging documents show both McGuire and Waddle are being held on charges of burglary, a level 5 felony, and theft, a level 6 felony. Bonds have been set at $10,250 surety and cash for each.
The affidavit of probable cause, filed Aug. 9 in Kosciusko Superior Court 1, states June 27, Warsaw Police responded to a burglary/theft at storage units.
Warsaw Police and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to four reports of storage units being broken into and items taken: guns, checks, coins, miscellaneous items, electronic devices, speakers, and DirecTV equipment. The thefts were reported between June 27 and July 29.
The sheriff’s department was then notified in early August regarding a check being cashed at a branch on an account of one of the victims. Police spoke to Scotty Poe, who had cashed the check. Poe stated he went to one of the storage units where Ronald Bailey cut off the lock and entered the unit, taking the items. Poe admitted he had written out the check and forged the owner’s name. It also was learned Poe had pawned a Husqvarna sewing machine and Silhouette Cameo Cutter on July 15, items that were also reported stolen from that same storage unit.
Upon being questioned about the pawned item, Poe stated he went with McGuire and Bailey to sell the stolen items. Poe took police to all the different storage units he had broken into with McGuire and Bailey. Police, in the presence of Bailey’s parole officer Brandon Shaw, went to Bailey’s residence where they found some of the stolen property. Bailey, however, initially told police the items belonged to his deceased brother, but later said they were associated with the stolen items with McGuire and Poe.
Police spoke with another individual who stated McGuire had been living at her residence, with her daughter and using her vehicle. She also reported noticing several boxed items and bolt cutters in her vehicle after McGuire’s use. Photos were shown to that individual of burglaries from one of the storage units, in which she identified McGuire, Phillip Hoover and Jake Waddle. She also told police the three were at her home the night of the burglaries, wearing the same clothes as in the surveillance video.
