Warsaw Man Arrested For Performing Popular Wrestling Move On Child While Drunk
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after he performed a wrestling move, the “powerbomb,” on a child as punishment. The child was able to escape to a local convenience store to receive help.
Mitchell Edward Robinson, 31, 218 Argonne Road, Warsaw, was booked for battery to a child less than 14, a level 6 felony.
On July 3, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to Walgreens in reference to a battery. Upon arrival, the shift leader advised that male child had entered the store and said he was battered by Robinson.
The child advised that Robinson had been drinking and became upset with him in regards to $50 the child had found and used to buy a cell phone.
According to the child, Robinsons slammed him on the ground, tackled him and slammed him against the wall. The officer was able to observe a scratch mark on the child’s chest along with the child’s shirt being stretched from being pulled on.
The officer then spoke with Robinson who advised the child had stolen $50 from his mother to buy a cell phone. Robinson admitted to “powerbombing” the child in the yard. A powerbomb is a popular move used in professional wrestling.
Robinson stated he did this to teach the child a lesson and to “assert dominance” over him.
Robinson was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on July 4 with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
