Man Arrested After Beating Woman, Holding Her Captive At Pierceton Motel
PIERCETON — A Pierceton man has been arrested after beating a woman and refusing to let her leave a motel room even after officers were called to the scene.
Jacob Paul Miller, 44, 7103 East US 30, room eight, Pierceton, is being charged with criminal confinement, a level 5 felony; intimidation, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
At 3:42 p.m. on July 9, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a domestic battery in room eight of the Pierceton Motel, 7103 East US 30, Pierceton. The officer arrived on scene, knocked on the door and received no answer. The officer knocked again and heard a male ask who it was. When the officer identified himself, the male subject yelled, “Get out of here.”
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the officer observed a nude female who appeared to be in distress open the curtain. She unlocked the window and the male slammed the window shut and yelled at the female. At this point, the officer was able to identify the male as Miller.
The officer spent a period of time negotiating with Miller to open the door. The female was heard pleading with Miller to stop. When Miller continued to remain in the room, the officer forced entry into the room. Miller resisted the officer and a taser was deployed to subdue him.
The victim advised that around 2 p.m. Miller became angry and started hitting her. He held her in the room and would not let her leave despite her repeatedly attempting to escape. She further advised that Miller threatened to kill her and then kill himself. The victim had visible red marks on her left neck.
Miller was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on July 9 and is still in custody.
