NORTH WEBSTER — The 2017 North Webster High School Alumni Banquet was celebrated the Saturday, July 8, at the North Webster community center. The classes met for social hours and dined on food catered by Our Father’s House. The classes to be honored this year were class of 1947, 1957, and 1967.
Jean Long was the only person to attend from class of 1947. While she did not speak, she was applauded for her presence. Class of 1957, was represented by Class Vice President Fred Clark who shared reminiscent words about days of their childhood.
“Class of ‘57, that was a great year. It was a good, good time,” commented Clark. He spoke of how gas could be bought for 25 cents a gallon and how much food could be bought with only $1. “When we started in the first grade, there were 11 boys and one girl. Kay (Caskey) was the only girl and she could outrun us all.”
While more came to join class of 1957, there were only a total of 21 graduates. Clark went on to appreciate growing up in the beautiful North Webster community area, but added that one of the most memorable moments from his childhood was the senior trip. As a last ‘hurrah’ the senior class took a train across the country towards the east, through Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and New York. On that trip, many new sites were seen and experiences were had.
Denny Stalter, class president of 1967, stepped up to welcome and introduce the class. He was happy to be present “through trials, tribulations and successes.” Stalter also presented a special thanks to the teachers, coaches and sponsors for their dedicated work and support.
After the three classes had been honored, Dan Kun and Linda VanCuren Darr provided entertainment for everyone to enjoy. The evening was filled with good-natured jokes from the spunky lively group that was happy to talk and catch-up with each others’ lives.

Jean Long, class of 1947, happily attended the 2017 alumni banquet.

Attending from alumni class of 1957 were, from left, Judi Funnell, Jerry Smith, Kay Caskey, Sandy Ritter, Fred Clark, Dave Kuhn, Larry Rensberger, Ann Freeman, Bud Stiffler, Phil Tom.

2017 Alumni President, Ron Shipley, MCed the night.
