Lake Science 101 Workshop
WINONA LAKE — Have you ever wondered about the science behind our local lakes? How did they form? What does turnover mean? Why is the water colder if I dive down deep? What causes weed and algae growth? What are the effects of pollution?
The answer to all of your questions is near! The Watershed Foundation is hosting nationally recognized Professor Melissa Laney, from Indiana University to teach a Lake Science 101 Workshop at Winona Lake Pavilion from 6 to 8 p.m. on July 11.
Join us to learn about the science behind the way your lake works! Professor Laney specializes in limnology, watershed management, and water resources. She has been on the faculty at Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs since 2000. Laney is the director of the Indiana Clean Lakes Program, as well as project manager and quality control officer of IU’s Limnology Laboratory.
This is a hands-on workshop for non-scientists who want to learn about how lakes work and why. Come ready to participate and explore through interactive activities!
A light supper will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by the presentation from 6-8 p.m.
Afterwards, join us for some water fun at Winona Lake Park.
